Congressional Cupid
Love Letters from Citizen Admirers
Do your Senators & Congresspeople fulfill their loving commitment to the People? Or, are they hopelessly addicted to their love affairs with their corporate sweethearts? Get started as a Congressional Cupid!
This Valentine’s Day, be a Congressional Cupid, and show enough of the Love to politicians that they can finally quit the corporate sweets. All month, citizen admirers are getting everyone they can to sponsor and send in their Valentines, petitioning the House & Senate to sponsor or co-sponsor one single amendment that finally ends the addiction to corporate power and money in politics.
If your elected official is too seduced by corporate secret admirers to sponsor or co-sponsor this cold-turkey Civic Rights Amendment, then help them rekindle that old flame for “We the People,” by showing them how to finally kick the habit and break if off with the big money bling…
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
We are each working to fund-raise for every Valentine sent. When you sign up to be a Congressional Cupid, you will get your own donation webpage, complete with a thermometer to track your donation goals and how viral your message has become. Invite your friends and family to send and sponsor a Valentine, and encourage them to create their own Congressional Cupid donation page, too. We heart Democracy and we’re thrilled to have you on board. Get started here!
Don’t worry. It’s easy to do. And if you have any questions at all, feel free to contact us at contact@nationalintervention.org!

Show Us the Love Contest – Top Prize $250!
A true intervention requires real love for those suffering from addiction, even addiction to corporate money and power. Especially addiction to something as potent and consuming as corporate money and power.
Introducing the “2012 Show Us the Love Contest!”
From Martin Luther King Day to Valentine’s Day, we’re all about the Love. It takes a lot of compassion and care to support other human beings whose addictions have become a threat to themselves and others. To help those in government who need to be checked out of power and into rehab, we’ll need as much of that nonviolent, compassionate power as possible. Here’s how it works:
1. Submit your best creative representation of how you would define your relationship to a Senator or Congressional Representative who is suffering from addiction to corporate money and power.
2. Your submission can be in any creative medium that can be uploaded: writing, video, drawing, graphic, music, cartoon etc…
3. Your submission must somehow describe how you might first approach your Senator or Congressional Representative about getting help for his or her addiction by ratifying a Civic Rights Amendment that gets money out of politics and ends corporate personhood.
4. If you believe it’s too late and the habit has already ruined your relationship, consider options for putting conditions on the relationship. Some areas to explore:
- Do you have to explain that you can love them from a distance, but you’re breaking up?
- How can you depict drawing strong boundaries or giving up on your request that your representative go into voluntary rehab?
- What would your intervention toward a mandatory detox and recovery program look like?
- What would it look like if you felt your relationship to your “elected” representative(s) had become toxic because of the addiction, that –for their safety and well-being, and for everyone’s– you had to put conditions on your relationship? What would the conditions be? How would your intervention still come from love, but remain the healthiest option for you, the sufferer of the addiction, and everyone damaged by their disease?
Just like the Civil Rights Amendment, the Civic Rights Amendment will need a determined, unrelenting display of nonviolent struggle from those who want to pass on a society and world worth inheriting.
As the only compassion-centered campaign for an end to both pay-to-play politics and corporate personhood, we’re calling on you, actual human beings, to show us the power of real, breathing people with full hopes, dreams and hearts.
Send us your submissions and we’ll send you the registration instructions!
with Love,

We’ll be launching our 2012 Auction Year Fundraiser in time for the second anniversary of the US Supreme Court ruling, Citizens United vs. FEC, which asserted corporations are persons and therefore their unlimited, anonymous money is equal to “free speech” in politics. You can show your support for eliminating “personhood” for corporations: Support the Intervention on those too addicted to corporate power to voluntarily ratify a Civic Rights Amendment that ends our “One Nation Under the Influence” political system.
January 2012 – November 2012
Intervention will be launching a documentary film kickstarter.org project! From January 2012 until the 2012 US “General Auction,” you can join this creative endeavor. It’s a nationwide collaboration to document who is abusing and addicted to power, as well as the many challenges to power addiction we’re witnessing today. Go to the Sign Up page now so we can send you the updates you’ll need to get plugged-in to the project documenting this moment of extraordinary change and confronting the addiction to power everywhere.
